Day 1
Departure from France

Embark from the airport of your choice and arrive in Japan the next day after a pleasant flight. Get ready to explore a world of age-old traditions, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable flavors. As soon as you arrive, the Japanese adventure begins, promising unique discoveries and lasting memories.

Day 2
Arrival in Kyoto

Upon arrival at Kansai Airport, your guide will transfer you to your hotel in Kyoto. Enjoy the rest of the day to explore at your own pace: visit Kiyomizu-dera Temple, To-ji Pagoda, the Gold and Silver Pavilions, Kyoto-gosho, or the Path of Philosophy, and discover the Fushimi district and its sake breweries.

Day 3
Immersion in Japanese culture

After breakfast, immerse yourself in Japanese culture with a half-day in Kyoto: visit a traditional machiya, don a kimono for a tea ceremony with a master, and participate in an origami workshop. Enjoy the rest of the day to explore Kyoto at your own pace.

Day 4
Kyoto

After breakfast, explore Kyoto by visiting the Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Sanjusangendo Temple with its 1001 Buddha statues, and the Nishiki Market for its local specialties. Next, discover Nijo Castle and Nanzenji Zen Temple before returning to the hotel or continuing your exploration.

Day 5
On the way to Shikoku

After breakfast, take the train to Takamatsu on the island of Shikoku. Discover Ritsurin Park, a historic 17th-century garden, and relax at the Kikugetsu-tei teahouse in the heart of the park.

Day 6
Self-guided tour of Takamatsu and its islands

After breakfast, explore Takamatsu or head to the Seto Sea islands, such as Shodoshima or Teshima. Discover local art with a guided tour of Sanuki lacquerware and temari, or cycle to Naoshima to admire outdoor artwork and visit the Benesse Museum.

Day 7
Konpira-san

After breakfast, take the train to Kotohira (1h15). Drop off your bags at the ryokan and explore Konpira Shrine, accessible after 785 steps, with stunning views after another 583 steps. End the day by relaxing in the onsens of your traditional ryokan, with views of Mount Kompira.

Day 8
Matsuyama and its castle

After breakfast, take the train to Matsuyama (1 hour 15 minutes). Visit the scenic castle and cherry garden, then relax at Dogo Onsen Honkan, an inspiration for “Spirited Away.” Finish with a stroll through the shopping arcade before heading to your accommodation for the night.

Day 9
Return to the Big Island

Today, leave Shikoku for Okayama by train. Explore Ishite-ji Temple before heading to Okayama, dropping off your luggage and visiting Kurashiki with its ancient houses, warehouses and picturesque canals, enjoying a boat ride.

Day 10
Okayama and Heading West

After breakfast, discover Okayama Castle, nicknamed “Crow Castle,” and explore Koraku-en Garden. Then, take the bullet train to Kumamoto, with an option to stop in Hiroshima for an enriching experience.

Day 11
Kumamoto

Explore Kumamoto at your own pace: stroll through the city center, discover the castle and Shuizen-ji Joju-en Garden by tram. For more adventure, take the train to Aso (1 hour), where you can hike Mount Daikanbo or visit Aso Shrine, surrounded by the peaks of Mount Aso.

Day 12
Nagasaki, gateway to Japan

After breakfast, take the train to Nagasaki (2h30). Explore Minami-Yamatemachi with Oura Church and Glover Garden, or stroll through the historic Higashi-Yamate district and Dutch Slope. Taste the famous Nagasaki chanpon in Chinatown or visit the 1945 Atomic Blast Memorial Park and Museum. In the evening, admire spectacular views of the city from the top of Mount Inasa.

Day 13
Fukuoka and its gastronomy

After breakfast, enjoy a free morning before taking the train to Hakata, Fukuoka (2 hours). Then, go on a guided food tour: explore the fish market, discover the “depachika” with its food specialties, taste dishes in a standing restaurant, and savor local delicacies at the yatai street stalls. End the day by experiencing Fukuoka’s nightlife at your own pace.

Day 14
Fukuoka Tour

Today, enjoy a self-guided exploration of Fukuoka: visit the castle, Ōhori-kōen Park, and Dazaifu Tenman-gū Shrine. Also discover the Kushida-jinja and go shopping at Hakata Canal City. For an enriching experience, opt for a guided bike tour, including a tasting of tonkotsu ramen, a local specialty.

Day 15
Return to Kansai

After a free morning in Fukuoka, take the train to Osaka, arriving around 2:30 p.m. Explore the vibrant streets of Dotonbori before embarking on a guided food tour, where you’ll sample menchi katsu, sake, wagyu beef, and innovative tempura in a hidden alley. End the evening with a night stroll or return to the hotel.

Day 16
Free day and departure

Depending on your return flight schedule, take advantage of your last morning to explore Osaka and visit Osaka Castle, a captivating emblem of the harmony between tradition and modernity. Then, take the express train or bus to Kansai Airport, about 50 minutes away, before flying to France, with an expected arrival the same day or the next day.
