The mimosa, originally from Australia, appeared on the slopes of the Croix des Gardes in Cannes at the end of the 19th century, probably introduced by one of the great winter hosts of the French Riviera. The Horticulture and Acclimatization Society contributed to its promotion.
From then on, mimosa growers will multiply in the region, in Mandelieu, Pégomas, Tanneron or even La Roquette.
