This trip focuses on the northern part of Costa Rica. After an express passage in San José, head to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui and its primary forests. Continue your journey through two national parks: Arenal and Rincon de La Vieja. Treks, walks, hikes: whatever your level, there is something for everyone. After a few days of well-deserved beach relaxation in the small steep coves of Samara, end your stay in the biological reserve of Monteverde.
Arrival at the airport of San José. Pick up your SUV rental car and head to your 3* hotel located in the heart of nature 30 minutes from downtown San Jose.
Take the road in direction of La Fortuna, national park of the Arenal Volcano. Settle in your 3* hotel located in the middle of nature with a view of the volcano. On a course of almost 3000 meters, you cross the tropical forest by paths connected between them by 8 fixed bridges and 6 suspended bridges. This succession of paths and bridges allows you to appreciate all the flora of this tropical forest.
Direction the Rincon de la Vieja National Park and your 3* hotel located in the heart of the nature and very close to one of the entrances of the park. In addition to the discovery of the Park, you will be able to enjoy a playful, sporty, original and accessible activity: tubing! After a few explanations from your guide, clinging to your buoy, you will go down the lively waters of the Rio Negro surrounded by the rocky walls of the canyons for the pleasure of young and old.
Take the road to Sámara and settle in your 3* hotel by the sea. Enjoy a horseback ride through the forest. Evolve gently through beautiful Finca (farms or plantations), at the rhythm of your horse and the sound of birds. At the end of the road, the preserved gray sand beach where the horses will splash in the waves on the shoreline for a magical experience. This horseback ride will allow you to admire the beautiful landscapes that surround you while discovering the fauna and flora of Costa Rica. Surfing is one of the most popular sports in Costa Rica, so you will enjoy an introduction or improvement of this sport on the Pacific waves. The spot of Tamarindo is one of the most interesting of the country. The
waves are perfect and the village for the after-surf is pleasant.
Take the road towards Monteverde. Installation in your 3* hotel. Less popular than its neighbors, the private biological reserve of Curi-Cancha allows you to fully and quietly observe the tropical fauna and its 200 species of birds. Here, the forest is less dense and the presence of tourists is more discreet.
The protected reserve covers 83 hectares, half of which is virgin jungle and the other half is secondary forest, at an altitude of 1500 meters. Only fifty visitors at a time are allowed to hike on the five kilometers of trails.
After discovering all the secrets and treasures that Costa Rica and its lush nature has to offer, it’s time to head back to France. Take the road to San José to return your rental car before embarking on a trip back home.
